I remember setting up my room in our new home.

I got to choose the paint color for the walls and I begged for a bunk bed with a futon on the bottom that could be a bed or a couch.

I picked a forrest green that ended up looking like a green screen. It turned real dark during the nights and shimmered when the sun came up.

We had just left my childhood home in the bay area and started a new home on a piece of land we could call ours.

I discovered my love for music in that room.

I set up backdrops behind me and made videos in that room.

I locked the door and blasted music through my headphones in that room.

I punched holes in the wall in that room.

My mind would race in that room.

I couldn’t name it or recognize it then but I realize now that I started to feel my emotions in that room.

At a pivotal point in my life I was stripped of my childhood friends and moved to a place where everything seemed so distance.

I became distant too.

In those moments I realized a lot about myself.

I was 14 then and I’m 28 now.

After moving three times in the past six years, I'll be back in that same room.

In so many different ways we're shown how things can be so different yet put together and seem whole. Seem one.

The imperfections of trying something new and allowing those vulnerabilities to be seen and accepted.

_welcome home

is a collection made of all recycled fabric material samples given to me.

With the state of everything going on in the world right now I’m trying to come up with different ways to use what I already have.
